What a beautiful Sunday afternoon in Louisiana? The weather this week has been pretty fantastic. I have enjoyed being in the 70s, and I have even enjoyed the rain. We needed it!! It has also been an excellent week for my health. I managed to attend every F.I.T class this week (Monday-Thursday and Saturday). I think our trainer pushed us harder this week than he has ever before. I muscles are still sore, especially my arms and shoulders. Socially, I managed to hang out with friends Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. Thursday night I spent time with one of my many few BEST friends. We all have friends, but Sally is my one friend I consider my absolute best friend. I had dinner with her Thursday night, and we spent the might laughing and catching up. Friday night, a group from F.I.T. class met up and had a great dinner at a restaurant down the street. I really enjoyed their company, and I can see good solid friendships developing. Saturday night we went to a neighbor’s house across the street. It was really nice getting to know them. We played LCR and Bingo! It was a lot of fun, and I look forward to doing it again.
Today, our Pastor continued his message on what it means to live under an open heaven. Do you sometimes feel as though God doesn’t hear your prayers? I know I have felt distance from God before. See, God wants all of His believers to live a life full of prosperity, and He wants to bless them. When we get into God’s Word, and start living by His Word, then we will truly see God working in our lives. The enemy likes to make us believe that our past keeps us from enjoying the promises of God. God does not want us to dwell on our past sins, but to look to Him and live to glorify Him. Colossians 1:19-20 “For God was pleased to have all fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through His blood, shed on the cross.” God is the Redeemer and Healer. Live your life looking to God and stay in His Word. Until next time, be blessed.
What a great week this has been. I managed to attend F.I.T. classes 3 nights this week. We have a new trainer, Jessica, and she does an incredible job. I love all the cardio she incorporates in the workout. With the main trainer/owner, Jason, our workouts are all about building muscle, so it’s nice to get some cardio in every now and then. I really need to get back to my jogging every day. After I finish writing my blog, I’m going to hit the jogging trail. It has been a wonderful week for me socially. I am very much an introvert, so having two nights with friends is a big deal. Monday night I visited a fairly new friend who recently bought a house on the lake. Man, what a beautiful piece of property. Makes me want to move out to the country; however, I did encounter “biting” flies, so my legs have several nasty bite marks on them. That wasn’t the most appealing part of the visit. Overall, I had a great time playing cards and eating tacos. Last night, I enjoyed the company of friends from the F.I.T. class I attend. We hung out at Buffalo Wild Wings, and enjoyed throwing our diets out the window! Spiritually this week, I am excited to say that we are starting a new “series” at church called Living Under an Open Heaven. Pastor James discussed how living by faith and staying in God’s Word, will allow blessings will allow blessings to abundantly come to us! I am so thankful there is a God who loves me and wants to bless my life. As Pastor takes me deeper into God’s word about what it means to Live Under an Open Heaven, I will share more with you. Until next time.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth of July weekend. I had my fair share of fireworks, BBQ, and watermelon. I enjoyed the company of family and friends. As far as physical fitness this week, it was extremely hot this week during my Full Intensity Training workout. To the point, I had to stop and tell my trainer that I’m dizzy and feel nauseated. These are the first signs of a heat stroke! (By the way, I workout in a warehouse with NO air conditioning!) As I was setting in front of a fan with an ice cold towel on my neck, I realized that I had not consumed enough water that day. I can’t stress enough the importance of staying hydrated during these hot summer days. Not only should you stay hydrated with water, but you should stay hydrated on God’s word. As far as spiritual fitness, Pastor James delivered a great message this week about what it means to be Jesus’s friend, and how Christians are in a covenant with Jesus. He talked about David and Goliath. Now, I have read about David and Goliath before, but Pastor James really helped me understand that with God on my side…with me being in covenant with Jesus, I can overcome all of the “Goliaths” in my life! God’s Word is like the stones David used, and my mouth is like David’s sling shot. In order to increase my spiritual fitness, I will dive deeper into God’s Word, and trust in God’s promises. Until next time… Be blessed.
I want to start this post talking about how I worked on my spiritual health this week. I am a Christian, and I consider myself non-denominational. Since March of this year, I have been attending a church called Word of God Ministries. WOGM is located in Shreveport, Louisiana; however, Pastor James McMenis is able to spread God’s word throughout the world using live Internet and television broadcast. The lessons I have learned through God’s word has completely changed my life. I have always known reading the Bible was important, but I have never experienced God’s word like I have experienced His word this week. This week I attended the 2014 Aleph Tav conference at WOGM. It was life changing!!! The Aleph and Tav are the first and last letters of the Hebrew alphabet. When Jesus said that he was the first and the last, this is what he was referring to! In Psalms 40:7 and Hebrews 10:7 the Bible teaches that Jesus came in the “volume of the book” John 1:1, 14 declare that Jesus is the Word made flesh. In Matthew 5:17, Jesus taught that heaven and earth would pass before one jot or tittle of His Word would fail. This conference was all about how Jesus reveals himself to us through his Word, and believe me, I definitely had a revelation!
As far as physical heath this week, I haven’t exercised a day. Terrible, I know. I typically go Full Intensity Training classes at Peak Physiques Monday-Thursday from 6-7:30. Well, the conference was Monday-Thursday from 6:30-9:00. I had to choose between working on myself physically or working on myself spiritually this week. I made the right choice by going to the conference. Until next time.
My name is Christina Tims, and I am currently enrolled at both Northwestern State University and Louisiana Tech. I graduated from NSU back in 2007 with a B.S. in Secondary Education, and in August 2013, I decided to return to NSU to get certified in Special Education. A year earlier in March of 2012, I enrolled in the grad program at Louisiana Tech, and along with getting Special Ed certified, I am working on a Masters in School Counseling. I have been teaching for six years, and I absolutely love it. My daily work is both challenging and rewarding. I have also been married for 6 years to my wonderful husband Ryan. Like with every couple, we have our ups and downs, but we also seem to come out stronger and closer after the difficult times. We currently do not have any children, but we plan on having kids in a couple of years. I would love to finish grad school before I have to start raising children. Well, this is my first blog. It is a requirement for one of my classes, so if it wasn’t for this class, then I probably would have never started a blog. I titled the blog, “Let’s Get Healthy” because getting healthy, not just physically but also spiritually and mentally,is a goal I have been working towards. Anyways, I plan on posting a couple of times per week, so until next time.
